Far West Housing Alliance

Mountain Youth Resources offers a permanent housing resource for persons who are homeless with disabilities. This supportive housing program is a program authorized by the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987. It consists of long-term, permanent housing with supportive services for homeless persons with disabilities. Some examples of supportive services include life skills, case management, counseling, outreach and budgeting.

  • 2 bedroom duplex
  • 2 bedroom duplex (handicap accessible)
  • 3 bedroom house
  • 6 single resident occupancy efficiencies (coming soon)
Candidates must provide documentation of homelessness and disability eligibility. HUD eligibility voucher must also be provided for Haywood County if applicant is seeking HUD assistance. For more information regarding the Far West Housing Alliance, please contact our office.
 

Criteria for Housing

  • Must be homeless; and
  • Must be considered disabled under Section 223 of the Social Security Act; or
  • A physical, mental or emotional impairment that is expected to be a long continued and indefinite duration, substantially impedes an individual's ability to live independently, and is of such a nature that such ability could be improved by more suitable housing conditions; or
  • A developmental disability as defined in section 6001 of this title; or
  • Having AIDS or conditions arising from its etiological effects.
